Wejít Syndicate states are those where the power of nobility was gradually phased out by guilds. However, unlike the Mercantile states, the power in local guilds was more evenly distributed, with a tradition of protecting the interests of all guild members. Members referred to their guilds as Syndicates, to underscore the importance of cooperation, mutual interest and fraternity, and to highlight the opposition to a 'merely' mercantile approach of the less egalitarian guild-states.

CommunicationEdit

Numbers are octal (8-based). Writing is left-to-right. The most common language is Maktó; less widespread languages include Xixtalál, Géshkir.

Typical GovernmentEdit

Usually the influence of guilds on policy-making directly correspond to their importance to the economy and quality of life of the local population. Leaders are mostly seen as 'first among equals'. Committees in leading positions are somewhat more common than in Mercantile states, but much less common than in the Justicariate.

Law & OrderEdit

The legal system is mostly Civil Law. Courts typically include a Committee (Jury). Verdicts are called 'guilty' and 'not guilty'. A person may represent oneself in court, but in many jurisdictions there are passable attorneys ready to work for a nominal fee (due to being subsidised by the local guilds). Trademarks are strictly enforced, licenses reasonably so. Copyright and patents are treated seriously, but have expiration dates ranging between years and decades. Gun ownership is somewhat restricted, but not prohibited. Assault and even harassment are serious crimes. Censorship is mostly limited to the area of offensive statements (racist, intolerant etc.). Libel law is harsh but fair. The Castle Doctrine is held to a reasonable extent. Age of consent varies between 15-18 (human equivalent: 13-16). Alcohol and smoking are legal, but most recreational drugs are not. Chewing gum is legal. Prostitution is restricted. Abortion is legal. In conflicts between parental rights and child rights, the latter come slightly ahead.

EconomicsEdit

Moderate income gap between the richest and the poorest. Small business is thriving, big business is somewhat inefficient. Banking loans work more like joint investments: the bank typically takes a certain percentage of a new business' income until the loan is repaid. There is a minimum wage limit set on a per-guild basis, but there's still an ever lower minimum that is theoretically enforced by law (in practice, trying to go so low is unheard of). Medicine is almost never free, but guild-sponsored education is possible to get. Retirement pay depends on the contract with the guild, but is usually provided.

MoresEdit

Families are nuclear, monogamous, typically with 1-3 children. Neighbours can be either acquaintances or friends. Strong language is discouraged in the presence of females and children. Flaunting material wealth is acceptable, but there is no encouragement. Public display of affection is considered acceptable, within limits. Matters of romance and sexuality are not mentioned, but details are typically kept private; allusions and euphemism are usually only reserved for flirting or for non-serious chats.
